iTunes clogging HD space

The reason many people prefer iTunes over bog-standard media players such as WMP, may be due to the virtually non-existent loading time between songs. You see, unlike WMP, iTunes is so keen on playing your music, that it loads it before the first song is finished, and whilst this makes for smooth and uninterrupted play, it can also cause a myriad of problems. You see, if you keep your iTunes running for a whole day, like me, you may soon find your main HD suddenly fill up by 10gigs. iTunes creates a huge amount of temp files during play, and does not clean them up until after iTunes is shut down, a major problem with this is that if iTunes crashes, you will have to manually delete the accumulated amount of temp data. In addition to this, if you are running torrents you may find that your HD has magically filled up, and your torrents have been brought onto standstill, even if you are downloading them onto a separate HD. If you ever require to delete the iTunes temp files, they can in most cases be found at these locations:

C:Usersuser nameLocal SettingsTemp
C:Usersuser name
C:Usersuser nameMusiciTunes

For Windows XP and older replace ‘Users’ with ‘Documents and Settings’.
